Introducing Ourself

Dalam memperkenalkan diri, terdapat beberapa frasa yang bisa digunakan, antara lain:

• Let me introduce myself, my name is ...
• I would like to introduce myself. I am ...
• Allow me to introduce myself I am ...
• I want to introduce myself. My name is/I am ...
• Good morning/afternoon/evening, my name is ...
• Hello/Hi everybody. I am ...
• I like ... (hobbies)
• My favourite ... (color, food, drink, subject, etc)

Introducing Others (family and other people)

Dalam memperkenalkan orang lain, contohnya keluarga atau teman, kita dapat menggunakan ungkapan seperti:

• I would like to introduce you to ...
• Let me introduce you to ...
• I would like you to meet...
• I want to introduce you to...
• Hi Erna, This is Soni, Soni, this is Erna.
• I have two brothers, they are ...
• My father is a ...
• My mother works as …

Additional/Tambahan

Dalam dialog perkenalan, ada beberapa pertanyaan yang sering digunakan antara lain:

• What is your name?
• Where are you from?/Where do you come from?
• Where do you live?
• What is your father (Menanyakan pekerjaan)
• What does your mother do? (menanyakan aktifitas pekerjaan yang dilakukan)

Pronoun: Subjective, Objective & Possessive

Pronoun berarti kata ganti. Kata ganti yang dimaksudkan disini adalah kata yang dapat menggantikan suatu subjek atau objek sehingga tidak terjadi pengulangan kata yang sama terus menerus.

Contohnya saja adalah nama. Kita bisa mengganti nama seseorang dengan kata ganti Dia. Dalam bahasa Inggris sendri terdapat beberapa pembagian kata ganti sebagai berikut.

He	Him	His	His	Dia (laki-laki)

Subjective pronouns

Subjective pronouns adalah kata ganti yang posisinya berperan sebagai subjek dari suatu kalimat. Contohnya adalah:

1. I have three dogs
2. You like to have many pen pals
3. He studies in an elemen
4. She will get married
5. We love Indonesia
6. They need attention
7. It barks when it is happy

Objective pronouns

Objective pronouns merupakan kata ganti yang posisinya berperan sebagai objek tadi suatu kalimat. Contohnya adalah:

1. I know Caroline. She introduced me to you via e-mail
2. My brother is an elementary school student. Sometimes i accompany him to go to school
3. My sister is a good student. Her campus gave her scholarship
4. We love animals. Last week our neighbour gave us a funny kitten
5. They run the family business seriously. Customers like them very much
6. The fur of the cat is soft. We like to stroke it

Possessive adjectives

Possessive adjectives adalah kata ganti yang menunjukkan kepemilikan. Penggunaan Possessive adjectives harus diikuti dengan kata benda. Contohnya adalah:

1. I have a pen pal. My pen pal is very kind
2. You have three dogs. Your dogs need a lot of attention
3. He studies in an elementary school. His school is not far
4. She loves reading books. Her books are in that cupboard
5. We run the business together. Our business is good
6. They frequently come here. This park is their favorite place
7. The kitten is funny. It's tail moves fast when it's happy

Possessive pronouns

Possessive pronouns adalah kata ganti yang menunjukkan kepemilikan. Jika Possessive adjectives harus diikuti dengan kata benda, maka Possessive pronouns digunakan ketika tidak terdapat kata benda. Contohnya adalah sebagai berikut.

1. This is my book. This book is mine
2. These are your dog. These dogs are yours
3. His school is far from here. His is far
4. Her book is interesting. Hers is interesting
5. Their family business is good. Theirs is good
6. Our plan has many alternatives. Ours has many alternatives
